After a controversial history with the series, Malia White is back this season on Below Deck Mediterranean. Fans of the hit Bravo series might remember Malia as the deckhand from season 2 who found herself in a very messy love triangle between Wes (the bosun) and Adam (the chef), who both actively tried to pursue her throughout the charter season. While she eventually found love with Wes, it wasn’t long before the couple split.
Three years after her boatmance gone wrong, Malia’s back as bosun and found love again with a fellow yachtie, chef Tom Checketts. According to Malia’s Instagram, the couple met back in October 2018 on a yacht, and since then, the two have traveled the world together. Now, they appear alongside one another on Med’s fifth season.
With Checketts’ experience in fine dining (he worked under Gordon Ramsay back in the day), who better to join the crew than him? Well…in hindsight, Malia might have other ideas, if social media is any indication.

Are Malia and Tom still together?
Initially, Malia was thrilled to have her boyfriend working alongside her. But on a recent episode of the Below Deck After Show, she referred to Tom’s presence on the boat as a personal “nightmare”—not exactly the nicest thing to say about a beau.
“Having done the show once and having relationships on the show, I wasn’t too stoked to bring a guy that I’m pretty serious about on the show knowing how much can happen and the feedback we get,” she later told host Andy Cohen on an episode of Watch What Happens Live. “No, it was not a nice decision for me.”

As much as we all hope the couple will eventually have their happy ending, right now it looks a little unclear. Although she told Cohen that she’s still with Tom, it’s suspicious that she very recently unfollowed him on Instagram. The last photo she has with him dates back to September 2019.
Tom, on the other hand, seems to be a little more open about their relationship on social media, with his last selfie with Malia dating back as recent as late July. “Missing the amazing @maliakpwhite so much,” he captioned the post. “It’s tough being apart so it’s lucky that absence makes the heart grow fonder!”
Will they survive the long-run? Based on recent episodes of Med, we’d venture to guess things aren’t going swimmingly.
