Every parent that considers home tutoring for their child eventually asks themselves the same question. Does my child really need home tutoring? Many parents talk themselves into believing that it is just their imagination and their child is really not having that much trouble in school. But if you take a closer look and examine the situation you will notice certain things happening that should be considered red flags when it comes to your child’s school work and his need for home tutoring. If your child is not meeting your expectations, verbalizes to you that he is having trouble, seems to have an abnormal fear of failure or criticism, or has a large number of doodles in his notebooks then it is highly likely that home tutoring is a good idea.

If your child is not meeting your expectations, or perhaps more importantly his own expectations, home tutoring can help him to reach a higher level of achievement. You must keep in mind that you and your child’s expectations must be realistic. It is great to have goals in life, but a good goal stretches a person not breaks them. A tutor can help your child achieve those goals.

One of the most difficult things that a child can do as he gets older is to come to you and admit that he is having problems with his school work. The confidence he has in you to trust you with his problem can be thrown away in a moment if you do not step up and help him. Home tutoring is an excellent way to achieve this and allow him to get help without his friends finding out and ridiculing him.

An abnormal fear of failure or criticism in regards to his school work is a very good sign that some type of problem exists. No one like to be criticized or to fail at anything but it does happen from time to time and is a normal part of life. If your child seems to be suffering anxious feelings or seems to be consistently resigned to the fact that he is going to fail in regard to his studies then he needs some support. Home tutoring can help give him some confidence and overcome those fears.

Do you look over your child’s notebooks from his classes? You should so that you can be confident that he is taking proper notes which will make learning and studying much easier. If you look through his notebooks and find more doodles than notes this may signify a loss of interest in what the teacher is saying because he knows that he isn’t going to understand it anyway. Home tutoring can provide not only training in the proper way to take notes and to study but may be able to present the information to your child in a different manner that will allow him to understand it better.

Home tutoring can be that extra boost that your child needs to get over his hurdles. If your child is not meeting your expectations, verbalizes to you that he is having trouble, seems to have an abnormal fear of failure or criticism, or has a large number of doodles in his notebooks then home tutoring may be able to correct the situation.
